23rd-24th

Ah, the 24th of July! I love July because of the heat, the fun festivities, the fireworks and of course the food. Luke and I always get so excited for handcart days here in Bountiful. This year we got to go to the fair twice and partake of the yummy goodness.

We didn't plan on watching the parade, but while at the park, we took Oliver to hear and see the loud band playing. He was particularly captivated by the bagpipe players...then again, who isn't?

I absolutely love this picture of Oliver. This is the first time he had ever tried a snow cone. He was making funny faces because of the coldness of it, but loved it anyway. (don't you think he looks just like his cousin Andrew in this? We think so.)
Later that night...
We went up to join Amy & company at her house. We had a great view of the fireworks from the roof. Oliver was silent and still the whole time the fireworks were going off.

Oliver was incredibly tired by the time we pulled up to the house. And this completed day one of our festivities.
The next day we headed to the park to hang out and to eat some more. We met up with our friends, had lunch, waited in a 20 minute line for cotton candy and then headed home. Sadly, I forgot my camera so we didn't get any pictures of this part of the day and of Oliver eating cotton candy. It was so cute!

Later that night...
We headed down the street for the yearly Cul-De-Sac of Fire! I love going to this to hang out with our neighbors and friends, to eat the food, and to enjoy the very cool firework show.

The show! Never a dull performance here. Oliver got a little scared at the loud crackling, but he did pretty good for the most part.

And by the time we got home, he was out.

We hope that all our Utah friends had a great time celebrating Pioneer day, Days of 47, Handcart Days, The 24th or whatever it is you call it.

Lava '09

We went to the Allred reunion this weekend. It was far away, it was hot, and they had to clear out the pool because someone had pooed in the water...did that stop us? Sure didn't! We had a good time anyway being there with the family. Last time we went, Luke and I jumped off the platform at the start of our day and we were sore the rest of the time...and even a few days after. This time, I just took the pictures while Luke jumped at the end of the day. We aren't sore this year, but we did get a little sun burned.

Here are the few pictures I was able to snap....

Out of it

I have been so out of it these past couple of weeks with my blogs. Maybe it's because we have been doing a lot of things and when I get home the last thing I want to do is try to be witty and come up with a post...and I'm not too witty. Hopefully soon, I will have something worth while to entertain the blogging world. We'll see...

4th of July Vacation

For our 4th of July weekend this year, we thought it would be fun to go out of town. So on Thursday, we packed up and took off. 4 and a half hours later, we were at one of our favorite places, St. George!

We did a lot of realxing in the air conditioned house. The heat was almost unbearable during the day so we kept our outdoor activities to a minimum. We did however, hit the park, have a snow cone, and walked through an old museum.

Loving being naked, sitting on the grass, and enjoying a nice cold popsicle.

And for the 4th, we had a wonderful dinner at Texas Roadhouse, relaxed, and at night headed up the hill to watch the fireworks. I thought Oliver wouldn't care much to see them, but once they started going off, he was sitting on my lap so still and wide eyed.

The view of the fireworks from where we were...

Oliver portrays exactly what I was ready to do by the end of this busy day...

Hope everyone had a great Independace day!
