Insta-post

Now a days with Instagram, it can be so hard to keep up on your blog because really who wants to post every little thing they post on Instagram? I would because I love looking back on the everyday things, but I just don't have the energy or make the time for it. So, here is my instagram post for the week.

On the 7th, some of the neighborhood girls got together to go to dinner for Mine and Melissa's birthday. We went to Trio which was good and very lady-some.
The following night, Karen took Me and Lindsay to Em's for dinner for our birthday's. Very lady-some and we were joking that I'm too ghetto to eat at such a fine establishment. I'm more of a burger and fast foodie, but {most of it} was delicious.
At school I had to park over by those dang teenagers because said teenagers took all the teachers parking spots. I came out to find "Savage B****" and "suck ****" written with their dirty little fingers on my car. Best part was that I was driving around town with that before Luke asked what it was all about. Thanks High schoolers. Thanks.

Oliver has been studying hard at Grandma Lilies. He hates it, but he is getting super smart and I love Grandma Lilie and Oliver for it.
This past weekend Oliver scored a goal in his soccer game. We were so excited and Oliver said that he scored a goal because he hadn't before. No biggie.
This is him holding up one finger...sort of.
The weather has been so nice and we love being able to go on walks in the evening and stop along the way to talk to our neighbors...and tackle them.

Mother's day was so nice. I love Oliver and I love Luke. I am also grateful to our own mothers and all the mothers that are examples to me.
And there you have it.

I'm 30!

This morning I woke up a little earlier than I have been on Saturday mornings. My house was very quiet and I got ready in silence thinking "today I am officially 30. Wow how did that sneak up on me." I was reflecting on my life, thinking about the past 10 years and how good it really has been. I knew today would be pretty perfect.

My siste signed up for this 5K she had heard about and I deiced to run it with her that morning. As we were waiting to start the race and I was moved to tears by the amount of support and money that was given to help with chromosome 18 awareness. The family that had put on this 5k did it for their son who was affected by this 7 years ago. They didn't expect him to live a single day. What a miracle.
Today we were running in memory of Sunnie Ray whom we lost far too early.

The race was perfect. Kat and I ran together the whole time and it went by so fast. We finished under 9:30 which I was totally surprised with since I hadn't ran in weeks.
When I got home, My family was awake and surprised me with such nice gifts. Luke bought me this University of Utah hoodie and a new camera strap. Oliver randomly pulled things out of his room to give me. Such thoughtful guys. After gifts, we got Oliver ready and headed out to his soccer game where he played so well.

I told Luke that as a combined birthday and Mothers Day gift, I wanted to redo our front flower beds. So we worked on it for about 4 hours. It was hard work since we had to dig out trenches, put in the railroad ties and carry out barrels of dirt. Luke threw his back out an hour in and made me do some heavy lifting, but he still worked hard to get me my flower beds.

That night to celebrate Luke graduating and my birthday, we went out to dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory with the adults on my side of the family...minus Jonny and Taleesha. The food was so good that night as well as the conversation.
Too bad we have issues taking a good picture though...
And it wouldn't be my birthday without going to some sort of Super Hero movie. This year, it was Iron Man 3. I actually loved it, but really, why can't these movies come out around Luke's birthday.
When we sat down, we looked over and we couldn't believe that the Capon's were sitting right next to us. We love these guys so it was fun to "hang out" with them.

The following day I had dinner at my moms house. I had requested carrot cake and they were nice to buy one for me.

After the traditional Baker rendition of "Happy Birthday", I got cake smashed in my face. The kids LOVE doing this and I'm happy to oblige them.

As always, I was spoiled by everyone on my special day and I am surprised every year by those that actually remember and go out of their way to send me well wishes.

This video in particular was my favorite.
In case you cant tell they say "It's. The. Big. 3. 0. Happy Birthday, Kim!"

Thank you all. Here's to making it to my 30's!

SURPRISE!

I just have to start out by saying that I have the best friends around. Really.
Thursday night, Amy had planned for her and I to go out to Crown Burger...one of my faves! It might have been because I was whined to her about how I wasn't doing anything for my big 30. Being as awesome as she is, she planned all of this.

We showed up to Crown and she was acting a little weird. She was driving really slow on the freeway, took a long time in the bathroom and also took a while ordering. As we were ordering, I felt someone standing really close to me. I turned to look and there was Megs face and then I looked around and saw all my book club friends. Totally surprised!

I even got fun gifts. Such generous and good people.

I Love this group so much and I am so thankful to know every single one of them.
Following our dinner, Amy took me to Nordstrom to buy me a birthday gift. We were excited that Ginger could join us too. She bought me the cutest Toms that should be arriving in the mail.

Seriously, best surprise night ever. Love you all!

GRADUATION!

The day is here. Graduation. Luke looked awesome and I was a very happy{dare I even say proud} wife. The ceremony was long and I thought it was so funny how everyone waved at their graduates as they spotted them coming in (reminded me of a primary program) Cade, kept us entertained and we loved spotting our graduate.
It was a long ceremony and it's safe to say we were pretty bored. Holly even started reading her scriptures. Amy and I tried to take pictures of us looking bored and Cade kept sending us the funniest texts.

I loved taking pictures of Luke all dressed up in his cap and gown.

 Love this man.

Rodizio Grill. As always, we miss those that weren't able to join us.
A few things we don't want to forget...
-Luke found his friend, Terrel who also graduated
-All Amy wanted to try was the Winder Wonderland at Rodizio. She saw it on their billboard. The waiter was nice enough to make it just for her.
-Cade would not stop hugging my mom when he saw her.
-Gimley the red-headed-long-bearded-graduate
-Luke wanting us to boo for him when they read his name instead of cheer

Congratulations, Luke! I am so happy for you. All those long nights of studying late, being away from your family, missing special events, sacrificing your time and money has finally paid off. You are such a great example to me and especially to Oliver. We love love love you and thank you for all your hard work.  You're done!

While these parents are away...

...Oliver will play.

Since Luke and I were away last weekend, Oliver got to stay with the Jensen's and since it was Oakley's birthday, he got to be a part of the celebrations.
Dinner at Cafe Rio.

Ice cream and Root beer floats

Long walks around the neighborhood.

Amy said that by the end of the long walk, he was so tired and even told her that his legs hurt. I believe you, bud.
But it looks like he was rewarded with a Popsicle...
 and a nap.
They were nice enough to take him to his soccer game...that ended up getting cancelled.

Playing games.
 I think...
And playing games...in the closet....under the stairs...with his BFF, Andrew

It's so nice to be able to go on vacation and not think twice about the safety of your child and know that he is in good hands.

Thank you so much, Jensen's. You guys had a part in making our vacation so awesome.

Graduation Getaway

Luke and I were ready for a vacation getaway after he finished his finals and after I have been dealing with some personal things. We decided that a trip to St. George and Vegas was just what we needed. We left Oliver with Jensen's and we took off.
The drive down was so nice. Luke and I talked the whole way down and didn't even listen to any music. That, in my opinion, is the best way to travel.

Benjas sushi was the first stop. It was fantastic and I think we broke a record for getting in and out of there in under 30 minutes.
We stayed up late watching Life of Pi and then slept in as late as we could. In the morning we were greeted by this lovely view and had a delicious breakfast out on the back patio. It was heavenly.

Later that day after some shopping, we headed down to Las Vegas to meet up with Mandi and her family. We went out to dinner that night with them where they took us to the Foodie Fest. Luke and I had food from the Maine Lobster Lady, Tornado Potato, and Funnel Cakes. It was delicious.

The next morning we woke up early to head down to the old Las Vegas strip and run in the Bubble Run 5K.

Mandi and I dressed up in our towel costumes. They were a hit and we were even stopped on several occasions to get pictures taken with people. I sort of felt like a celebrity ;).
The race itself was so much fun. The bubbles, the people, the famous landmarks, the pictures.

After the race we got to play in the bubble machines. It was pretty fun. I loved running in this race with Luke and Mandi.  Thanks Mandi for letting us stay at your place and for hanging out with us.

After we got cleaned up we headed to Raising Canes. It was so delicious. We each ate a Caniac which if you don't know, it's a lot of food.
We shopped a little more in Vegas before leaving and to walk off our large meals. We may have even been waddling. Luke bought himself a hat he had been eye balling and I bought a skirt and shirt. We didn't have much shopping luck which is totally fine by us.

The rest of the trip we relaxed and it was wonderful. We took long walks on the golf course in the evening. Luke found 10 balls, I found 22. I laid out in the sun while Luke napped in the shade. We watched more movies and stayed up late and ate our little hearts out.

I love this man and loved spending a nice long weekend with him. It was perfect and one of the best trips ever.
And thank you to Trent and Amy for watching Oliver while we were away. It's so nice to know he was in such good hands... and that he was getting plenty of exercise.
