The nutritional value of peas is amazing when you think about how much is really packed in a just one small cup. One cup contains more protein than a tablespoon of peanut butter and also provides calcium, Vitamin A and C and Iron too. And for this reason, Luke and I planted them to feed to our chuck.
We woke up on a Saturday morning and an hour and a half later had our own baby food ready to go. Here are the pictures...
Picking the peas.
At this point I was racing to pick as many as I could. Luke already was on his second bag and mine was only half full. For those of you that know me I am very competitive and I will race with anything....even if the other person doesn't know it.

YUM!!! Love fresh peas! Oliver is so freakin cute! Way cute pictures.
It almost looks like playdough in the ice trays. I'm glad O likes it. Peter would never eat peas (and still won't).
I really want to make Aaron's baby food on my own but sadly my "garden" will have to be the grocery store... but even that I think would make more economical sense than buying those expensive jars of baby food.
Luke gave us some of your peas and we loved them! So much better than store bought! You will have to teach me to garden, I am so impressed with your garden. One more week til we're neighbors, wahoo!
Good team work, I am so glad Olver loved them...they are so good for you! YAY for real food!
Yum!! I remember those days...makin our own baby food. Gosh, time flies. Thanks for this post to bring back the memories, though. It's fun to think about.
My poor peas died:( That is really neat you made your own baby food!
Oliver is going to be a healthy kid eating all those fresh peas! We envy you your garden. Maybe we can get one going for next year! We're so glad Melis and Mark will be living by you--although we're a little jealous. You guys will have fun! -B
i love that you made your own baby food!! and i am overly jealous of your big beautiful garden. we planted tomatoes, in a planter box, on our tiny tiny stoop, 4 of them to be exact. they are growing but im not expecting tomatoes. next year im getting the hanging tomatoe planter for sure
I love all the pictures, seeing how I stole one of them too. Oliver is a cute little stinker!
