2 birds...dead.

This past week was a busy one. We didn't get to see much of each other. So, Luke and I talked about doing something special for Oliver since his parents were both MIA for the week. Along with that, my nephews were starved to come hang out with us. I mentioned to them a few weeks ago that I would take them swimming some time. Finally after 3 weeks of asking, we killed 2 birds with one stone and went swimming with Oliver and Aiden & Andrew (we also invited Aaron, but sadly, he couldn't come).

I also wanted to try out my waterproof camera that I got back on December...Dare I say 3 birds?

So, we rode down the big slide...many many times. The boys weren't tall enough so someone had to go with them and we really didn't mind as you can see.

This one is my favorite. I snapped this right as we were landing in the water.

We also played a little with the camera. Andrews eyes were fire red by the end of the night. I wonder why...

We swam/walked around and around the lazy river. By the end of the night my feet felt like they had blisters...don't worry, they didn't

I had so much fun with all these boys.

Our friends Bob and "Bobwy" (that's what Oliver calls Aubry) joined in on the fun a little later.

Afterwards, we had to have some ice cream so we took the kids to Arctic Circle. Aiden and Oliver settled for chocolate ice cream with Oreos, Andrew wanted a chocolate topper and we all shared a huge pile of fries.

We wish summer were here so we could do this exact thing and not be freezing in our wet clothes and 30 degree weather.

ghetto sledding

The other night Oliver and Luke went to go play in the snow. I opted to stay indoors where it was warm and dry. They ended up walking around the neighborhood looking to borrow a sled from someone, but didn't have much luck. They even went to Lowes to see if they could find one to buy and again, nothing. Tonight Luke headed outside to try and shovel our walk way. Oliver wanted to joined him even though he didn't have much to do and even if that also meant no sled. So Luke put this sled together....made out of a cardboard box. And even though I consider it a tiny bit white trash to Sled down your own driveway in a cardboard box, Oliver loved it and I loved watching my boys.

I'm a fan.

Lately, Luke and I have been having so much fun hanging out with each other. We have been able to have our own date night every night once Oliver has gone to bed for the past 3 weeks. We change into our PJ's, grab our favorite treat and watch episode after episode of Mad Men.

I am a huge fan of Christina Hendricks and John Hamm...And pretty much the entire cast.

But, I'm a bigger fan of this guy...
Picture taken in our kitchen looking into our new ladle. Ha. I know, I know.

Birthday Boys and Bowling

Aiden and Andrew turned 7 the day after Christmas. And this week we got to celebrate their birthdays. Trent and Amy invited the families over for pizza and Oreo ice cream cake.

(Picture stolen from Amy's blog)

Following dinner and presents, they took us bowling....all 24+ of us.

It was CRAZY and SO much fun.

I usually beat Luke at things like this, but I sucked it up and didn't even break 100. Luke got 101.
We really had so much fun and I heard more than once, people say that they need to do this more often. I totally agree.

A huge thank you to Trent and Amy. You guys are awesome!
And Happy Birthday to Aiden and Andrew. 7??? Seriously? Wow, time flies.

Beauty and the Beast

I may not have a daughter, but I am lucky to be able to take someone elses as my own for some girl time.
This past weekend, Oakley, Izzy, Lindsay and I hit up Bountiful Highs play.
The girls were so excited to see this, but after the intermission, I think they were ready to go.
At one point, Oakley said "Kim, why isn't this like the movie?"
Maybe another year or 5 until they really get into it??? We'll see.

 Oaks and myself
 Izzy and Lindsay
Izz and Oaks. How cute are they?

Blasted Strep!

Yup, it's true. Luke has Strep Thorat again.
That's 3x's in the past 9 months.
Doctor said that if he gets it again, he'll have to get his tonsils removed.

Look at how sad he looks.
I'm sad for him too.
Let's hope this strep thing is done with.

Oliver says...

The other day I was talking to Oliver about his hair.

Me: "Hey Oliver, do you want us to cut your hair?"

Oliver: "No Mom, I want to grow my hair like Spencer's."

This is Spencer {and Ashlyn}.

ipad or O's pad?

Oliver LOVES the ipad.
Ever since we got one {Christmas}, he has been loving it and he asks everyday to play on it. My favorite is watching his cute little fingers maneuver around.

This is how he usually plays...

My favorite app for him is fish school. It teaches him his colors, ABC's and how to count.

Yeah, He wants me for a Sunbeam...

...And Oliver's pretty happy to be one.

Congratulations for making the transition, my handsome little man.

Moments

Sometimes it's these little moments that I take for granted.
It's these little moments like clipping Oliver's nails that I realize that I love most.

I am lucky to be a mom.

Confessions of a Nightstand

My friend Brooke did this post a while back and just the other day I noticed that my night stand has a bunch of random stuff all over it and I was reminded of her post.
Mine is not nearly as cute as hers and that's why I thought it was so funny.

It was also not staged. If it were, You'd think I'd at least put scriptures somewhere on here...

A: Water. I have always woken up in the middle of the night for water...interestingly enough, I never wake up to use the bathroom.
B: Books. I am currently reading a couple, but oddly not the ones on my nightstand.
C: Carrot Cream from The Body Shop for my hands.
D: An expired can of Coke. I was cleaning out my running bag (that I keep in my closet) and found it, but I guess I couldn't bring myself to throw it away.
E: Headphones. I sometimes watch shows on my laptop in bed...when Luke's sleeping.
F: My cute little jewelry holder.
G: Chap stick. A must.
H: Hair ties. Imagine having hair as long as mine and not braiding it or tying it back while sleeping. I have woken up with my hair wrapped around my neck multiple amounts of times.
I: Rings and necklaces. Can't sleep with them on.
J: Tags from new clothes. These in particular are from Hurley leggings that I bought in stg.
K: A pamphlet on infertility and a referral card. Yep, I am one of those.
L: A reading light. Another stg purchase that was much needed.
M: More books stacked under my ghetto nightstand. All Harry Potters to be exact.
N: A first aid kit we got for Christmas from Holly. I was figuring out everything that came in that nifty little thing.

And there you have it. I think I need a night stand makeover. Desperately.

Snow? Really?

We woke up yesterday morning to all this snow. Finally! Oliver and Luke were so excited to go play in it.
Oliver played in it for a while and made this awesome snowman with his Dad. Seriously, how cool is Luke.
We even noticed throughout the day that cars were stopping to look at it and even take pictures. Ha! Luke said to me "Is it really that cool?"
Yep, and so are you.

But after about an hour and a half, Oliver was frozen and came in to snuggle with me. I was going to take the Christmas tree and decorations down, but how could I with all this snow? So we didn't and watched Christmas movies instead.

Welcome snow. So glad you could finally arrive.

Date night...just us 3

We had an awesome date night last night. We have been wanting to take Oliver to go see Puss in Boots. We even tried on Monday, but we were too late and tickets were sold out. So we went to Chick-fil-A and saw the movie. I LOVED IT. Luke and I were laughing the whole time...even the parts that no one else seemed to pick up on. And Oliver liked it just fine. Again, he was wanting to go play on the video games more than anything. Oh how I love a good date night with my boys.

Farewell, Our Magical Monte.

Monte became a part of our family on December 3rd of this year and now it's time for him to go back to live with Santa to help him get ready for next year. Is it weird that I'm the one that's sad and maybe even a little teary eyed about him leaving us? Yes, okay I realize that it is.

Monte was a really good guest. We loved waking up every morning to see where he would be for the day.

Every time after Oliver would find him, he would say "Silly Monte!"

I loved that.

On the last day, Oliver found him with a little surprise.

A note.

And Oliver was so excited about it...as you can see.

We opened up the letter to find that this was Montes last day with us until the next holiday season and he was saying goodbye.

And he wanted to leave a small gift for his favorite little boy.
When Oliver saw that is was a superhero blanket, he was beyond excited. We opened it up and he flew down the hallway hollering that this was his new superhero cape.

Thank you Monte.
We will miss you too and we already can't wait to have you stay with us again.

Bring in the new year...FAST!

We love the last week of the year. Why? Because we go down to St. George for a whole week and do whatever we want.

And since we do whatever we want, Amy and I decided to leave everyone behind and go to Vegas.

So we shopped which I have zero pictures of.

And we went to Raising Cane's which is the best fast food place ever. Yes, I mean EVER and of course we had pictures of this...

After stuffing our faces we did some more shopping. Amy was mad because while taking pictures at Raising Cane's, she dropped her camera and it wouldn't turn on.

She was beating up her camera when I snapped this lovely picture of her in all her frustration. And we were laughing so hard at her weird chin and grandma mouth that we were in tears (forgive me Amy for posting this, but I never want to forget it).
Another favorite is going to Pioneer Park in Stg. It is a park full of huge boulders and caves, climbing and the crack. Oliver went through the crack with his cousins last time we were here and this time he was stuck with a bunch of adults that couldn't fit. I couldn't let him go through alone, so I attempted it and guess what? My chest is small so I was able to fit and we went together. Woo hoo!

We didn't take pictures of anything else, but we did the usual. Rock band, Running, Finding golf balls, Eating out, Sleeping in, Movies and this year we added putting a puzzle together with the in laws. I even stayed up with just my mother and Father in law (no Luke...he went to bed), until 1:30AM working on it. Sad we don't have a picture of that.

New Years eve was uneventful. We had dinner and hung out playing the ipads on the couch while the kids played wii. The 3 Jensens girls had a sleep over with me and we watched a movie. Luke and I tried to stay up until midnight by watching Breakfast at Tiffinys, but it was too weird and we missed the new years mark by a whole 30 minutes. We're lame.

We are so happy around here to be finished with this year. It was a rough one. But here's to new goals, new memories and a happy new year!
