A blessed 2008

Here are some exciting (and maybe not so exciting) things that have happened over this past year that I never blogged about...until now....

I became 1st counselor in the YW program back in February.

Prepared for the arrival of a baby.

Created a little nursery.

Discovered a new kind of love and art for photography.

Fell in complete love with my little family.

Became someone extremely important.

Re-kindled old friendships

Spent the last year I'm ever going to have with Luke as just "Kim and Luke"

Experienced the most mix of emotions I think I ever will all at once...scared, nervous, excited, confused, paranoid, fearful, happy etc.

Became 25 and loved it!

Went down to St. George for a "girls retreat". Luckily, Luke got to go too.

Blessed our little Oliver.
Went up to Wyoming and had a great Thanksgiving.

Celebrated our 4 year anniversary!

Here's to what was a great 2008 and hopefully a fine 2009!!!!

Ah, Christmas Time!

This Christmas was too good to us. We were spoiled beyond belief. I am so grateful for our family and friends and for all that they do for us, not only during the holidays, but throughout the year. Here are pictures from our Wonderful Christmas celebrations...

A Happy Reunion

After 4 years of not seeing eachother or really talking much, Maeve and I were finally able to meet up yesterday. We had a great lunch at the Dodo and did a little Christmas shopping afterwards. It was so great to see her and catch up. Thanks Maeve! I'm so happy I have you back in my life again.

Don't mess with Baby

What do you get when you have a camera + a crazy mom + a hungry baby?

A MAD OLIVER!

*WARNING My voice is highly annoying in this. It usually makes Oliver happy.

Par-TAY!

This year I was able to host our annual Baker Christmas party. Every year we have a progressive dinner with the family, but this year we decided to add more family, Have more games and just have all of it at my house instead of venturing out into the cold. It was a little chaotic getting ready for this event, but it was all well worth it.

Our meal consisted of a variety of appetizers such as stuffed mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, quiche, jalapenos poppers and spinach pockets. We followed with a delicious salad and Lasagna for the entree. My sister made a couple of desserts like chocolate dipped pretzels and apple cobbler with ice cream. My aunt also made a very good Mexican jello to add to all the deserts.

After dinner we played the white elephant gift exchange game. We had many funny gifts like Kenzies love written down for you on a piece of paper, A purse with mugs, a lump of coal and a spoon. (Kade got most of those and he wasn't too excited about it...he's 4) We also had some good gifts like a homemade nativity set (Super cute), Stephens hot chocolate, games, and play dough.

Finally the big hit of the night was karaoke! We had a boys verses girls game going...the girls won most of the time. I had never done karaoke before and it was actually pretty fun.

Luke even got in on the action...Strange hu?
Here are the older relatives having a go at karaoke in Spanish.

The party turned out to be a bigger success then I though it would be. Thanks everyone for making this party so much fun!

Holiday movie quotes

We just love watching a good Christmas movie at our house, but the rule is, is that we can't watch them until the month of December gets here. (Lukes rule) So we thought we'd share some quotes that we like the best. See if you can guess...

1. "It's Joyful and Triumphant"

2. "Maybe I'm off my hinges, but I believe you. That's why I'm gonna let you go. I'm gonna give you to the count of three to get your lousy, lyin', low-down, four flushing carcass OUT my door! 1... 2... 3 Merry Christmas you filthy animal...and a happy new year."

3. " Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

4. "It's just like Santa's workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms... and everyone looks like they wanna hurt me... "

5. How can you give Kris Kringle a parking ticket on Christmas Eve? What's next, rabies shots for the Easter Bunny?

6. "I want an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!"

7. "Hello Santa"

8. "Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see. "

9. "I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love."

10. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kiss you twice and then linger on the second one. "

11. "Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nitwit. You can't fire me, I quit. Seems I don't fit in. Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nit-wit. Just because my nose glows, seems I don't fit in."

12. " ...What was the last thing you and Charlie did, before you went to bed Christmas Eve? We shared a bowl of sugar, did some shots of brown liqour, played with my shot guns, field-dressed a cat, looked for women... "

Whoever discovered CHOCOLATE was amazing...Whoever discovered HOT CHOCOLATE was genius!

There really isn't anything like a steaming hot cup of chocolate to warm you right up on a bitter cold winter day. The marshmallows are an added bonus!

Christmas at Home

One of my favorite things about Christmas are the decorations around my house that I get to see on a daily basis. I love that it reminds me to reflect on the important things of this season and the fun things too. I'm always so excited to be able to set up Christmas at my home right after Thanksgiving and always sad when I have to take them down. Here are a few pictures of Christmas in my home.

Fun sayings all around

My bug of a boy

I just figured out what Oliver reminds me of...

Have you ever seen the movie "A Bugs Life"? Well, he reminds me of a mix between the potato bugs, Tuck and Roll and the fat caterpillar, Heimlich...of course Oliver is much cuter, but if he were to be a cartoon, then he'd be a bug.

Same cheeks.

Same mouth. Same shape.

Girls night out!

Last night some of us got together for a girls night out. First we went and ate some good food at Rumbi Grill and then we went to see the movie Twilight-and it just gets better and better the more I see it. Thanks to Amy for putting it all together and for having a birthday so that we can go out and celebrate!

Amy, Holly, Aunt Rauna, Heidi, Loree, Emily and Me. Jill joined us right before the movie.

Everyone squeeze in...that means you too, Holly.

Thanks again, Amy. It was such a fun night!

"Hello Santa"

This past Saturday we were able to attend the annual Smith family party. I was so excited that after 2 years, Luke was finally able to come. This year was also so much fun because it was Oliver's first experience with Santa...

This is what Santa brought Oliver. I think he likes it.

Our happy little family!
