William Ray Baker 1945-2011 Our Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend peacefully passed away on the evening of April 3, 2011 with his family at his side after a long fight due to complications of Colon Cancer. He was a kind, hard working and gentile hearted man who loved his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ with all his heart. He was born March 20, 1945 in Provo, Utah and shortly after adopted by his parents Irene Leila Belcher and William LaFora Baker. Bill grew up in Orem, Utah and many parts of California. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors degree in Spanish and Computer Science. He converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of 21 and became a devoted member where he served a full time mission in the Mexico North Mission. Bill later returned to Mexico in July 1975 where he found his sweetheart, Lilia and was married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on December 30, 1975. They enjoyed 35 memorable years together, raising 4 children, whom he was extremely proud of and later enjoyed their 8 beautiful grandchildren. He worked in the book binding business for 20 years and later for Wells Fargo. As a hobby, he worked in concessions for the Energy Solutions Arena (Delta Center) and Franklin Covey Field. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his friends and family. He enjoyed bee keeping, coin collecting and Genealogy where he was later able to find his biological brothers and sisters and mother. Bill is survived by his eternal companion, Lilia G. Baker, his children, Sophia Baker, Wendy Baker Kattelman and spouse Brian Kattelman, Jonathan Baker and spouse Taleesha Baker, and Kimberly Baker Veigel and spouse Luke Veigel. His grandchildren Mekenzie Baker, Spencer Baker, Tayten Baker, Kade Baker, Ethan Baker, Ashlyn Baker, Jackson Kattelman, and Oliver Veigel. He will be extremely missed by all those that had the honor of knowing him and leaves behind his greatest legacy, His Children. A viewing will be held at the Deseret Mortuary located at 36 E 700 S in Salt Lake City from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 9 at the LDS chapel located at 225 W 500 N at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing again prior to the funeral services that morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery (1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful) following the funeral Services.
