(Per Amys request...)
Last night while I was playing online, I remembered to check the latest updates on http://www.stephaniemeyer.com/ For those of you who don't know who Stephanie Meyers is, She is the amazing and very imaginative author of one of my favorite book Series. Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. It is the story of a girl who is challenged by life, Mortality and choices that she needs to make all in the name of love...for a vampire...her "forbidden fruit". One of the reviews that the book received goes as follows:
"As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward's sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst."
I know it sounds crazy and pretty geeky for that matter, but I promise it's good. Although the book was made for young adults, I have heard of moms and even grandmas reading these. An older lady in my ward has read all three about three times already since thanksgiving and plans to continue to read them. My brothers wife was so obsessed about them too, that my brother wanted to take the books away and would roll his eyes every time she made a reference to vampires and how she wished my brother was one. It's pretty funny to see peoples reactions. I must say that I'm not that obsessed, but I do love the words that are written. The book, especially Twilight, is so beautifully and tastefully done it just gives me butterflies in my stomach and in many parts, made my heart stop. It makes your mind wander to an unknown world with unknown people and circumstances. One of my favorite parts is when they are in the middle of the forest all alone in a perfect setting and he is about to kiss her. The words are so perfect it almost feels like your there. Oh man It's so good! I have to be honest though, I haven't read Eclipse yet because every time I try to, someone wants to borrow it and so I let them. I plan on getting it back this week to read it while I'm down in St.George this weekend. I'll let you know what I think... For anyone that wants a good read, I highly recommend it.I can even lend you mine if you want, after I'm done, of course.
